In 2009, the cost of materials for this desk was $50 and today the cost of materials is still only $70-$80. Of course, the cost may be more or less, depending on how you choose to build it. Whether you build it to spec or modify it, as many have, you won't find a Studio Desk with this much work surface, build flexibility, functionality and cool looks for anywhere near the cost of building it. With over 1000 PDF50 Build Plans sold to Buyers across the Planet, these plans are easily my "Best Sellers".
In 2005, I designed and built this studio desk then created my first Homestudioguy.com Website. When the Editors of RECORDING MAGAZINE saw the desk, they thought it was "Hot" and asked me to write Build Plans for the magazine. In 2006, the desk was featured online in "MAKE". Due to its complexity, this project is not recommended for beginners.
The PDF10 Acoustic Panel Mounting Unit, is a sturdy Low-Cost way to hang Acoustic Panels on your walls while at the same time increasing acoustic panel Bass Absorption by adding distance between walls and panels. It is also the easiest Homestudioguy project to build.
My design was developed based on Acoustic Principles shared by Ethan Winer of "Real Traps" and has received "Thumbs-Up" from "ATS Acoustics", "GIK Acoustics" and "Real Traps Acoustics".
